Welcome to the Friends of St Richard Reynolds

From the Friends of St Richard Reynolds:

We hope you and your families are keeping well in these unusual and testing times. We are all experiencing huge extremes of emotions as we deal with our children, our older relatives, exam uncertainty, jobs and finances. We are keeping the whole SRR community in our thoughts and prayers at this time. We are particularly thinking of our exam students and the teachers who have worked so hard to prepare them. They must be feeling as if everything they have worked for has been taken away, but of course, we all know that our school offers so much more than that.

It goes without saying that all FoSRR events and gatherings are on hold for the time being.
We are going to be keeping in touch with the school about how we can support them through this time and with any longer term issues that will come from this.

We thank our teachers and support staff who have been working above and beyond to set up home schooling and keeping our children’s education as on track as possible.

Thank you to you all for your support so far this year, particularly our reps for their hard work in keeping our parents in touch with each other. Keep yourselves and your families safe and well and we will look forward to meeting up again as a community as soon as we can.

summer ballThe Friends of Saint Richard Reynolds (FoSRR) is an association that aims to:

• support the Catholic ethos and values of the school;
• develop and further a community of individuals who are supportive of the school;
• advance the education of pupils in the school;
• encourage effective relationships between staff, parents and others associated with the  College;
• have fun in the process.

All parents are automatically members and we welcome anyone in the local area and beyond who would like to support our school. The support of parents is vital to the success of a school and the support from parents, parishioners and many in the wider community who helped to establish this College.

Don’t forget to use Amazon Smile (smile.amazon.co.uk) and Easyfundraising.co.uk for all your online shopping. Search for Friends of Saint Richard Reynolds. The school receives a percentage of every purchase all year round and all of this goes towards supporting our children’s education.

Can you Help?

Our committee, led by our new Chair, Fiona Holton, are continuing to keep in touch as we prepare to take on the FoSRR reins from July. If you would like to join us in planning events and fundraising activities to support our school and it’s future then we would love to hear from you. All types of help and support are welcome and we know we have a hugely skilled and talented parent body.
We are particularly looking for a person (or a couple of people working together) to take on the role of Treasurer to keep the FoSRR finances in ship shape. Experience may be helpful but is not necessary as a full handover and support will be given. If you are interested in playing a part in supporting our children’s school we’d love to hear from you.

FoSRR has funded many initiatives to date, including library books, indoor rowing machines, portable stages, amongst many other items.

FoSRR also donated the proceeds from its flagship Summer Ball event directly to the sports hall fund tand intends to continue to do so, there are a number of further ideas we have to increase our fundraising, but we do need more volunteers to share the workload and improve the students' educational experiences even further. We have a committed bunch of primary and high school parents working on our events, but will always welcome new faces and ideas.

Thank you to all the parents, governors, teachers, staff and friends who attended our Quiz Night in February.  Over 150 of you packed into the school canteen where the bar was busy, the food was fabulous and competition was fierce amongst the quizzers. A huge thank you to all the parents who helped run the bar, serve the food and wash the dishes, to the Year 7 parents who organised a fantastic raffle, Imran and his team at the Sheesh Mahal in Twickenham for providing the food and to the school and staff for providing the facilities and supporting this event.
